Christmas In July Sale

Friday 27, 2012

Hello Friends,

Whew! We have made it to Friday!  This has been an absolutely crazy week for me and the behind the scenes folks at Flourishes.  We are preparing to celebrate our 5th birthday and do we have some great announcements, challenges.  This will be a birthday bash to remember!  Oh, I digress, so on to today.

The the Flourishes design team members are all creating cards for our Christmas in July sale which ends on July 31st.  Here's my card for this hop.

This card went together in a snap.  I used a sketch layout from my collection of sketches.  Color Made Easy (Ooops--did I say that?) made making this card a cinch.  I use the new Flowers & Frames on Arches 140 lb hot press water paper, then colored with Letraset Aqua Markers, a piece of lace and Hug Snug seam binding made this a breeze.  Color Made Easy--(OOOPS I said that again!!) made my selections oh so easy.

Remember — between now and the 31st of July — all Christmas stamp sets are 25% off — what a deal! No codes needed, prices have been marked down to keep it simple for you! Just click HERE to see all the good things that are on sale now

Hello Friends,

Before i get into the thick of things for today's post be sure you visit the Flourishes Blog, for some hints of what to come in the very near future from Flourishes

I am glad you came back today to revisit one of my personal creation for last Christmas.  Since many of you are new to my blog, you have not seen this before.  I like it as much this year as I did last year when I first created it.  Today I am highlighting Christmas Candles set.

Here is the card that I made with one of the images from the set.

I used a soft almost sage green for the card.  A new shade of green for me at Christmas, but I love the softness of this card.  I think it allows the image to take center stage.  The image and card base were both made using Flourishes Classic white paper. The card is 6"x6".  The image was colored using these Copics:

Here is a close up of the candle so you can see the light touch I used in coloring.

Lots and lots of my Sakura Gelly Roll clear glitter pen and My white Essential pen for adding in berries to the rings around the candle and on the candle itself.  The Copic  Cool Neutrals were used to give depth to the candle.  A hint of Yellow, lite blue, and red markers makes the flame look real.  The Copic  Water collection was used around the edges of the Hurricane globe again to give it depth.  I cut a Fleur de Lis rectangle in Sage Shadow and used two different sheets from the Memory Box, Yuletide group.  The top layer of paper had little star bursts that I accented again with my Gelly Roll glitter pen.  The card is finished with May Arts White silk ribbon.

I hope you are inspired my my Christmas past card.
Thank you for taking the time to visit the Atelier today.  Leave a love note, if youu like.  I love to hear your take on my creations.

Friday Free For All

Friday, 20 July 2012

Hello Friends,

It's finally Friday.  It has been a really busy week here at Flourishes homebase, with release week and a CHA sale. I'm sure you know that we are packing and processing lots of orders.  I have been suffering with a migraine since Monday but today I finally caved in and got medical help.  Great meds and some sleep and I think I am back to being myself.  I rarely suffer headaches, but this was a doosey!

Friday usually means it a Free For All--we can work on anything we like.  I did just that.  On Teach Me Mondays blog Ally Cope showed a beautiful use for the set Lace Edges.  I knew exactly what I was going to do.  I had seen this concept used before and put it in a safe space in my memory and Ally jogged it out. I incorporated my new Sweetness of Friends as the focal image.

My card today is one of femininity and friendship

NO Coloring!  For me that is unbelievable, but I really enjoyed using the circles Ally showed us, my Scor-Pal and lots of pearls.  SU's paper Sahara Sand set the stage with black and white making the contrast. I followed Ally's instruction and used a Spellbinder circle as my guide as well.  It has a different look than I first imagined. To me it looks like it may have come from an elegant lady of royal descent. What do you think?

Hello Friends,

Today I am going to join the Friends of Flourishes in the blog challenge.  I hope you will as well.

I hope that everyone has checked the list of winners for the Sweetness of Friendship stamp in my last post..  If your name is on that list, please sent me a reply message with your mailing address by Friday July 20th.  Unclaimed stamps will go to later entries. Thanks to all that joined in.

Now on to today.  My niece and her fiancee made Blackberry Jalapeno Jam as gifts for the guests at their wedding reception.  Oh my was it good!  Good enough for me to want to make it.  It is delicious over cream cheese or blended with cream cheese.  Served on Ritz crackers it is divine!  It is sweet with a little kick!

Here is the recipe card I made for today's Friends of Flourishes challenge.

Want the recipe for Blackberry Jalapeno Jam?

 Here it is:

Blackberry Jalapeno Jam

  • 1 (1.75 ounce) package powdered pectin
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 4 cups blackberry juice
  • 1 green jalapeno pepper, minced
  • 1 red jalapeno pepper, minced
  • 3 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 5 half pint canning jars with lids and rings

  1. Mix the pectin crystals with 1/2 cup sugar in a bowl. Stir the blackberry juice, pectin mixture, green jalapeno, and red jalapeno together in a saucepan; bring the mixture to a boil for 1 full minute. Add the 3 1/2 cups sugar and return to a rolling boil until the sugar has fully dissolved, about 1 minute. Remove from heat; stir while off heat for about 5 minutes to remove bubbles and foam.
  2. Ladle into sterile jars leaving 1/4 inch headspace. Seal jars in a hot water bath. Refrigerate jelly after seal is broken.
